The subjects of erotic photographs can be professional models, celebrities or amateurs. Very few famous artists have posed nude for photographs. The first celebrity to pose for photography in the nude (for that time) is the theatrical actress Ada Isaacs Mencken (1835-1868). A photo of her in a bodysuit and something made of lightweight fabric, which Mark Twain likened to a diaper , is now considered the first star pin-up in history.
